Sir Cliff Richard has launched a campaign to make chart history - by claiming a UK Number One single for the sixth decade running. The singer began his run of hits in September 1958 with 'Move It', and now a new song, 'Thank You For A Lifetime', is being released next month to mark the 50th anniversary.
During the six decades in which he has been active, Sir Cliff Richard has charted many hit singles, and holds the record (along with Elvis Presley) as the only act to make the UK singles charts in all of its active decades (1950s–2000s). His new single "When I Need You" was released on 29th October 2007. This is the first single to be released from his new album Love... The Album which was released on the 12th November 2007. Cliff is set to celebrate his 50th anniversary in the music business in 2008 and to mark this occasion he embarked on his 50th Anniversary Time Machine Tour in 2007.

Sir Cliff Richard (born Harry Roger Webb 14/10/40 in Lucknow, India) moved as an 8-year-old to the UK, where it would be 10 more years before he and his group The Drifters emerged in the UK charts for the first time with Move It. Cliff was heavily influenced by Elvis, imitating him shamelessly during the first couple of years of his career. Something which he openly admits, and fully acknowledges that without Elvis, he and many others would never have happened. ‘Move It’ was a classic British Rock ‘n’ Roll song, peaked at number two, and was followed by a long string of hits like Living Doll and Please Don’t Tease.
With his backing group The Shadows, he dominated the British popular music scene in the late 1950s and early 1960s, before and during the The Beatles’ first year in the charts.
