NEW ALBUM RELEASED FEATURING REWORKING OF HIS HITS WITH FRIENDS
Lionel Richie returns to Europe this autumn with his first European tour dates since 2009, and nearly 25 years since his first solo shows took place. His extensive European tour will take him to Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Holland, Hungary, Ireland, Luxembourg, Monaco, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.
Lionel Richie's tour announcement coincides with the release of ‘Tuskegee’ his much anticipated album on 12 March 2012. Richie has re-recorded 14 of his international hits performed as duets such as Endless Love, Easy and Angel. He is joined by renowned artists such as Shania Twain, Kenny Rogers and Willie Nelson as well as his pick of today’s contemporary scene in Little Big Town and Pixie Lott.

The crowd that came to witness 'Lionel Richie and Friends in Concert' at the MGM Grand Arena taping Monday night (April 2) in Las Vegas were ready to be taken back in time, and they were not disappointed. From the moment Lionel stepped on stage to the final notes of the evening, it really was a night to remember. The audience greeted the pop -- and country -- superstar with a standing ovation when he walked out to sing the first song of the evening, 'All Night Long.' And they were ready to stay ... well, all night long.
Audiences are never disappointed with Richie’s exuberant live shows which deliver a mix material from a 30 plus year career from the memorable early days of the Commodores’, to the sweet serenades of his Eighties piano ballads and more recent up tempo pop material from the Noughties.
Richie’s career has seen him rack up sales of more than 100 million albums, 22 top 10’s, five Grammys, an Oscar for Best Original Score, a Golden Globe and a host of other awards from virtually every major entertainment organisation.
He has shaped popular culture as his music has served as the soundtrack of several generations around the world. His music has remained at the forefront of his fan’s milestone moments – first kiss, first wedding dance, first break up, first child. It’s impossible to separate those memories and his music because they are inextricably intertwined.
March 5th is the date for the UK release of Lionel Richie’s latest album, Tuskegee (March 26 in US). On the album Lionel reworks some of his classics as duets with renowned artists such as Shania Twain, Willie Nelson and Kenny Rogers. Lionel Richie will also be performing in concert in London this Friday, March 2.

Lionel Richie is thrilled to announce his personal journey into country music. Whilst he realises it may at first sound a bit strange, Lionel was born and raised in Tuskegee, Alabama, and is proud of his Southern roots. Lionel Richie grew up with country, R&B, gospel and classical music and admits a priceless gift from his grandmother and community of Tuskegee. this is where it all began the place where he learned about life and love and the power of music.
Tuskegee also proved the perfect location for his outstanding songwriting. Lionel Richie's new album, Tuskegee, is a journey of return and revelation. Lionel says " It’s about where I came from and how I arrived at where I am today. …I’ve come full circle. It’s a validation. It’s a state of mind. A place that represents possibilities, hope, promise, empowerment, and where dreams come true—no matter how old or young you are, or where you’re from.
