THE WOMBATS JOIN LINE-UP FOR RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS' EXCLUSIVE 2012 UK DATES The Wombats are the latest act confirmed to join Red Hot Chili Peppers at Knebworth Park (Saturday 23rd June) - The Wombats join DIZZEE RASCAL and REVEREND AND THE MAKERS to the line up!

The Multi-platinum American rock band are to perform at Knebworth Park and Stadium of Light Sunderland in June 2012.

Following the recent release of their tenth studio album I’m With You earlier this year and a sold out UK arena tour, Kilimanjaro Live is proud to announce that Red Hot Chili Peppers will return to Britain in June to perform two massive open-air shows – their only UK dates of 2012. Red Hot Chili Peppers will take to the stage at Knebworth Park, Stevenage on Saturday 23rd June and Stadium of Light, Sunderland on Sunday 24th June 2012.

Special guests joining Red Hot Chili Peppers are to be announced in due course.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers gigs are set to occur just weeks before the launch of the 2012 Olympic Games in London these two very special shows will be the only opportunity for UK fans to see Red Hot Chili Peppers live in concert in 2012. The Red Hot Chili Peppers ended their two year hiatus in October 2009 and began writing for their tenth album. In a change to their line-up, the band was joined in the recording studio by the guitarist Josh Klinghoffer (who had joined them as a second guitarist during their Stadium Arcadium world tour. The band, along with Klinghoffer on guitar, made their live comeback appearance  on January 29, 2010 with a cover version of A Man Needs A Maid.

When interviewed in late 2010, Chad Smith announced that their next album would be released sometime in May or June 2011. The band has confirmed a number of events for 2011 including the  2011 Summer Sonic Festival, which will be held August 7–8 in Japan and the  Rock in Rio, to be held in Rio de Janeiro on the September 24, 2011 where they will appear as the headline act. This date is the 20th anniversary of the release of their album Blood Sugar Sex Magik

This mammoth tour was  composed of seven legs, one for promotional shows around the world, three in Europe, one in Australia, New Zealand and Asia, and the other two in the US and Canada. The set list included several songs played for the first time in many years. It was also the last tour to feature guitarist John Frusciante, who confirmed his departure from the band in 2009.
