National Auditorium of Music

Venue Information

The National Music Auditorium (ANM) is an organisation which forms part of the National Institute of Scenic Arts and Music (Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports).

Designed by the architect José María García de Paredes, it was opened on 21 October 1988 and its construction was undertaken as part of the National Auditoriums Programme, aimed at providing the country with an adequate music infrastructure.

The ANM is responsible for important activities in the world of music, offering its facilities to both individuals and public or private organisations for the holding of musical events. Its two concert halls, Symphony and Chamber, with 2,324 and 692 seats respectively, allow up to four concerts a day to be held, with afternoon and evening performances.

The Spanish National Orchestra and Choir has its headquarters at the ANM. The Auditorium is also the headquarters of the Spanish National Youth Orchestra.

Directions

By Car: From Madrid city centre, the drive takes around 20 minutes. Take the Carrera de S. Jerönimo east out of the city, continuing straight over the roundabouts.

Follow the road to the left until you take the right turn onto Calle de Alcalá and use the left lane to turn slightly right onto Plaza de la Independencia. Continte onto Calle de Alcalá. Use the left lane to turn onto the Calle de Velázquez and continue straight on this road. Turn right at Plaza Carlos Maria de Castro onto Calle de López de Hoyos.

Turn left onto Calle del Príncipe de Vergara and the venue will be on the left after 600m.

By Bus:

1, 9, 16, 19, 29, 51, 52 and 73

By Underground:

The no. 9 service from Plaza de Castilla departs every 6 minutes and is an 8-minute journey over 5 stops. From the Cruz del Rayo stop, the walk to the venue is under 100m.

Walk north from the underground station on Calle del Príncipe de Vergara towards Plaza Rodolfo y Ernesto Halffter and turn right onto this road. Turn left to stay on the road and the venue will be on the right.

Parking:

The closest car park to the venue is the Rodolfo Square and Ernesto Halffter which is a 1-minute walk away.

The Museum of the City car park on Príncipe de Vergara is a two minute walk away.
